Clean countertop using mild dish soap and soft cloth.

Clean stone surfaces daily with a soft cloth using mild dish soap, and wipe off any spills immediately. Especially after rolling dough on marble, you’ll want to clean up the mess right away. If a stain does soak in, treat it with warm water and a mild dish soap, or a stone soap recommended by your countertop contractor. For more serious stains, you may need to use a poultice–an absorbent compound, such as powdered whiting mixed with hydrogen peroxide–which will pull the stain out. Check with your granite or marble fabricator about cleaning recommendations for specific stains.

That is the major benefit of having granite countertop in your kitchen. Because granite is very easy to cleaning and maintaining.

It is very important that countertop has to completely wiped down again with water and then clean it with a dry cloth or dry paper tower, because you don’t want to leave the soap or any remains of the soap on the surface. Over time if you continue doing that it would build up sort of the film on the surface which will make a countertop look not too shiny and not nice. Not to worry, there is better way to do this.

Using dedicated natural stone cleaner

Another way to clean natural stone countertop is to use dedicated natural stone cleaner:

Most of better cleaners have sealing features. That kind of cleaner protects your stone by putting a little bit of the sealer on the top of the surface as you cleaning – every time you do it. So it is not only working better but it also will works for long time, protecting your countertop from stains. These products aren’t toxic, and you don’t have to worry that products are be unfriendly to the environment.

You can spray it directly to the surface. For example if you have some dishes on the countertop and you don’t want to spray on them directly, you can spray little bit onto the rag, and then just wipe the surface. You will see how it become shinny and nice, and then with the other, dry side of rag you can dry it out. That way you can clean countertop and protect it.
