Color enhancing


One of natural stone countertop transformation processes is enhancing. It is a deepening of stone color. For this purpose we will use enhancers. If you have an old countertop which lost its color, or if you have a new countertop with color not deep enough you should perform an enhancing. This will cause that the colors will become prettier and improve the countertop appearance. We could by that way restore original beauty of countertop and add a charm to new countertop.

 

Where and why I use the enhancer

Countertop materials, which are proper for enhancing:

  • limestone,
  • slate,
  • travertine,
  • sandstone,
  • flagstone,
  • onyx,
  • tumbled stone,
  • flamed stone & textured stone
  • Masonry & concrete

Countertop surface finished good for enhancing:

  • honed,
  • flamed,
  • leathered,
  • antiqued,
  • tumbled,
  • satin,
  • brushed.

You can enhance:

  • counter tops,
  • back splashes,
  • vanities,
  • showers,
  • fireplaces,
  • floors .

You would enhance garden rocks and grouts. Use it inside or outside. In the case of a small crack, the use of enhancer may cause its repair.

 

Enhancer application

Always read the manual before use this product.

  • Protect any surfaces not intended to be treated by using masking tape and foil etc.
  • Prepare surfaces by clean it, the best by using stone cleaner.
  • Apply the enhancer, depending on the type by: rag, paint brush, roller or sprayer, paint pad, low-pressure chemical-resistant sprayer, roller or brush.
  • Leave the enhancer for stone penetration on the time specified on the manual (5 – 20 minutes). But remember to not leave to the full dry, which may cause which may cause unexpected change in color and appearance of the countertop.
  • Use the dry cloth to wipe the countertop with excess product.
  • Please wait a specific time (see instructions – usually about 2-4h) and check whether the color is right. If the effect is unsatisfactory you should apply enhancer second time – according to the previous steps.
  • Usually after 24-72 h surface gets dry completely.
  • Please note with the first 6-8, avoid walking on the surface (for floor).

 

Enhancer types:

There are available many types of that product, and the most popular are the Dupond Enhancer. You could buy enhancer with feature of enhancing only or enhancing and sealing. In the second case after applying you do not need to use additional sealer.

 

By using enhancer we can get our stone countertop appearance improvement. New countertops usually come enhanced, and we don’t need to do it, but over time it may lose their looks. To receive its original appearance you should use enhancer. This is a very good solution the more that we can control the color deep by the appropriate number of applications.
