Stone Restoration


Stone countertops are very durable, but it is not completely resistant to damage and aging. After years of using stone countertop can become dull, lose its original luster and appearance or colors may change. In order to lead our old countertop to its original appearance we can use stone restoration. For this purpose we could use many techniques and products. Among these techniques are honing, polish and shining. For these works we use special powders.

 

Honing, Polishing and shining stone

These techniques consist of:

Cleaning the treating surface,

- Applying appropriate powder product and usually water. For each of these techniques we use respectively: honing, polishing and shining powder.

- Refinish area using orbital sander or weighted floor machine.

The result of honing is matte finish stone surface, which looks softer with reduced reflection. You can also eliminate mild to deep scratches.

Polishing creates smooth, satin finish and eliminates etch marks & light wear patterns.

Shining creates high shine finish and brings back luster of polished stone.

 

With the stone countertop we can do a lot works to improve his appearance and functionality. Basic works are clean and protecting. These ones you can perform yourself at home. However, the stone restoration will use other products and techniques, which are honing, polishing or shining. This work usually performs by a professional. We do not recommend performing them yourself with no specialist help. Because the incorrect use of the following may cause damage of your countertop.
